Nursery Details: Paper airplane mobile (made from vintage maps)

Next up in the nursery details series is the paper airplane mobile.

I was inspired by Pinterest (again!), which just proves how invaluable it really was during the whole process; from design to execution.

Of course, the one that totally sold me (read:pushed me over the edge) -

I'm just going to ask; 'Is that not the coolest thing EVER?'

I love the vintage-y feeling bike rim, the comic book pages... really, it's just awesome! Furthermore, it really got my creative juices flowing. Planes, paper or otherwise, very much fit the theme of our room and what if, instead of comic book pages I used vintage atlas pages? Pure gold!

Off I went in search of a vintage atlas that I could maim, but found nothing that I was happy with. Luckily, I follow a blog called;

...where you can find many different printables, for any variety of projects. Vintage clip art, ephemera, maps, and all kinds of other fun stuff.

To that end, look what I found on there that would be perfect for my project -

I printed a bunch of the above maps and sat down to get to work. It was around that time that I realized I had no idea how to make a paper plane! If you also need instructions I used these;

An embroidery hoop with various lengths of string placed equally around it and a little hot glue in the gravitational centre of the planes, and a paper plane mobile was born!

Hi Beth!

Thanks! I used plain ole sewing string. Just something I had laying around.

Good luck!
